Circumcision Day

The Nicaea Center held its first medical mission for the benefit of the Stella Matutina Center Sunday schoolers. The aim of this medical mission was to provide free circumcision services to young boys who were unable have the procedure done because of the restrictions brought about by the pandemic.
Dr. June Pearl Sanson along with her Resident Doctors and Consultants were already in their scrubs, ready to take on the day's activity even before the participants, along with their parents and guardians, started arriving at the center around 9 am. As with any endeavor that we undertake, a prayer was said to ask the Lord for His blessing and the intercession of the saints for the success of our mission. Then, it was all hands on deck.
After the kids were weighed, and their vital signs were taken, they were whisked off to the gym to undergo the procedure. For the most part, the boys, were visibly nervous, albeit resigned as per the staff who were present. As they trickled out one by one to the recovery area, it was all smiles again after a bracing cup of soup and some crackers.
There was one that stood out though. His name is Charles. While his companions were whimpering in pain, the little boy bravely bore the discomfort, and instead, offered the rosary he was praying for the souls in purgatory. Prior to leaving the center, the participants were given discharge instructions along with some antibiotic and pain meds.
The center was able to help 20 young souls and the mission went without a hitch. Thanks to the mercy of Almighty God and the intercession of the saints we invoked. Thanks to the very generous hearts and hands of the doctors who cheerfully gave of their time and talent and the staff and volunteers who filled in the gaps. This is just the beginning. We have more work to do!
